Established in 2006 by Blake Mycoskie, TOMS was founded upon the inspiration he found on a trip to Argentina, where he encountered the traditional, rope-soled Argentine "alpargata." Struck by the poverty and health issues in the country, Blake set out to reinvent the alpargata for the U.S. market, with the goal of making life more comfortable for those without shoes.

To realize this purpose, TOMS made a commitment to match every pair of shoes purchased with a donation of a pair to a child in need. During the company's first year in business, they sold 10,000 pairs of shoes, and Blake returned to Argentina to lead his first annual Shoe Drop, donating to the children who had inspired him.

TOMS Shoes are now available in multiple colors and fabric combinations for men, women, and a recently introduced line for children, aptly titled Tiny TOMS.

In addition to their one-for-one giving model, TOMS is committed to supporting grassroots initiatives that boost mental health, increase access to opportunity, and end gun violence. The company pledges to donate ⅓ of its profits to these causes, partnering with organizations at the local level to drive positive change.

The TOMS Classic Alpargata features a unique slip-on design, with clean lines and lightweight fabrics in vibrant colors and prints. The shoe's sole material is rubber, and the outer material is canvas.
